About GEMS

Welcome to the Geospatial Environmental Mapping System

The Geospatial Environmental Mapping System (GEMS) was designed to provide dynamic mapping and environmental monitoring data display tools for Sites managed by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Legacy Management. The information made available and the environmental data display tools developed for GEMS are the result of input from various stakeholders including DOE and contractor staff, regulatory agencies, and members of the public.

GEMS 3.0 Release Notes

In this version of GEMS, we redesigned the interface to utilize modern technologies and make GEMS easier to use and find data. New capabilities have been added such as 3-D maps and a new photo viewer. New site and sample location filters have been added. These give the user the capability to filter sample locations by subtype or completion zone, etc. This release also includes an attributes table. This will allow the user to view feature attributes in the attributes table of all the features shown in the map or zoom to a selected feature.

We are also working on a new charting and analysis application to provide more analytical tools. One of the features included in this application is the ability to generate a map based on analyte values. New functionality will be added to this is future releases.

Disclaimer: The charting and analysis application is still under development so many features are not yet complete. But it is included in this release to give users a sneak-peak of things to come in future updates.

Recommendations for new ideas are welcome. Send us an email at gems@lm.doe.gov.
